The Cat Empire’s music fuses jazz and ska with infectious Latin rhythms, and their lyrics embrace youth and freedom. Their records never fail to make me smile. This project set out to capture the liberating and joyful energy of The Cat Empire’s tunes by physically modeling their sound-waves using poster paint, an old speaker and high-speed photography. The resulting unique 3D sound signatures reflect the experience of their colourful and energetic live shows.
